Welcome!

YAY!! You found me!!

Dear Room 113 Families,

Welcome to our class blog, where I will post classroom updates, ways you can support your child at home, things to do (e.g., forms to return), useful links and photos (after I check your forms). My blog will be my main way of communicating with you after today, so please sign up for automatic emails by entering your email address in the field in the top right corner (when looking on a computer screen). I am also working on updating my Google classroom, which will be very important should we have to return to virtual learning. Again, please note that if you are looking at this blog on your phone or tablet, you may not be able to see the email field or the helpful links and to-do list in the side columns.


The best way for you to reach me is by email at tamara.mitchell2@tdsb.on.ca (don’t forget the 2!). I welcome your communication and will always do my best to respond promptly but I appreciate your patience as I adjust to the different prep schedule and my new daycare life!


Now, I know it is not the beginning of the year, but I am new to this class and need to get to know our students quickly, so as I do in September, I invite you to write me a little (or long) note or email to help me get to know your child. Some things I am curious about…

  • What are some of your child’s likes and dislikes?

  • What are some of your child’s favourite things about school?

  • Where does your child excel, and where you do suspect they need support?

  • Who does your child live with (one home, two homes, grandparents help out, caregiver)?

  • How has your child, and your family, been doing with the challenges of Covid?

  • Do you have any concerns (Covid or otherwise) that I should know about?

  • Does your child have any allergies or medical conditions I need to know about?


Thank you again for your patience during this transition, for your ongoing support at home (I know this has not been an easy year) and for welcoming me to room 113.
