April dates

Dear parents,
There are a couple things coming up in April that didn't make it onto our calendar:
1) TOMORROW: April 10th, from 6-8 pm in the gym, we are hosting a family evening featuring some storytellers (focusing on Day of Pink), and the leaders from X Movement, which we are experiencing this week. Hope you can make it!
2) We have a special dance workshop with a visiting artist scheduled for the 25th. Please don't book any appointments for the PM.
3) The Dewson Dance-a-thon will be on April 26th. This is to celebrate our fundraising efforts between now and then. Envelopes with all the instructions are coming home today and are due back on the 25th. This is a super fun event, and one of our school's best fundraisers. The money goes right back to the kids in the form of artist programs, scientist-in-school subsidies, furniture and materials and all the many guest speakers and performances arranged by parent council. Our goal is to raise $50/student, but any donations are gratefully accepted. Even if your envelope is empty, please return it so that our class can be entered into a participation draw! For more information, to donate or request songs, check out the website.
4) Emmylou's mom would like to let you know about a fun family event she is involved in. She writes: It is a day of free science activities for children and families rain or shine and full of hands on activities for kids including solar car racing, the pinwheel activity I brought in for Emmylou's show and share and wind turbine blade experiments. This is being held on Sat. April 27th. Click here for more information.
5) Looking ahead, my little group, The Redeemers is back at the Gladstone Hotel for a show on May 3rd. 7-9pm, no cover!
This week we will talk about the reason behind Day of Pink, which is celebrated tomorrow everywhere, and next Monday at Dewson. In kindergarten, we will focus on the messages of supporting our friends, using kind words (not teasing), and including others. Important actions which we are trying to remember each day. For more info, click here.

Here are some polite phrases we can say in French in order to make our own good choices, and be kind to others:
Non, je ne veux pas jouer ce jeu.
Arrête, je n'aime pas ça.
Est-ce que tu veux jouer avec moi?

Our little earth and space tomato seeds got to work over the weekend and each day we have a few new shoots. This photo was yesterday. Today when we counted, we were tied 6-6 for the L package and M package.

Today we got to work on a neat art project that is new to me. We are going step by step together and hoping it turns out like the pictures! Today we made the place mat background, and cut out our bowl. Ask your artist what this will eventually be!
