Thanks for all your help today at the Dewson Festival! I hope you had a blast!
I have another exciting event to tell you about. Monday morning (our next school day) we will be participating in Dewson's Bike Rodeo! This is a really neat event where police officers come and join our volunteers in running several biking stations. Students will practice their skills and learn some important safety tips, such as how to fit your helmet properly and how to signal.
If your child has their own bike, it would be great if they could bring it to school. Please have them practice locking and unlocking it so that they can do this on their own before and after.
Because our time at the rodeo is right at the beginning of the day, I will meet students outside with our attendance at 9:00. After attendance, we will quickly get our bikes and head to our first station. Please remind your students NOT to go inside when the bell rings (I will already be there) and try to have their bike locked in an accessible place (not under 3 other bikes), since we are in the first group!
If any amazing parent doesn't have any place to be Monday morning and can stick around until around 10:20, I'm sure we could use lots of help particularly with the unlocking and locking, and also with the kids that are not yet comfortable riding on their own. No need to let me know, just show up!
Also, please ensure that your child is wearing running shoes and probably a hat and sunscreen.
Thanks and enjoy the long weekend!
Tamara
Before the festival we made our own girouettes (spinners) and explained the probability of landing on each colour!
